A question presented to us on a daily basis. ” I’m new to the dental community here in (your town here). What is the pay range for a (your job title here)?” Salary range depends on practice size, job description and dental office budget. The best way to approach the topic of salary would be to reflect on the strengths you possess with numbers that are shown on your resume and be prepared to talk about them at the interview. Share how you would be an asset to the practice. It’s all about what you can do for them. Your resume shows your value to potential employers. Also, research the office prior to the interview. Learn the practice’s needs. Do your homework. Being informed is key. If you go into a job interview with confidence, preparedness and a here’s-how-I-can-help-you mindset, the pay will follow.
If you want to learn about employment opportunities and pay ranges in your area while keeping up with current events in your field, we recommend you get involved in both local and national professional associations. These associations have state-by-state employment and pay range statics readily available. Connect personally on the local level by getting involved. The more involved you become, the more your skills will sharpen, your passion will be fed and the doors of opportunity will open to you. Networking is key. Opportunity will not walk up to you . . . you need to take action and walk up to it. If there are none in your area, think about starting one. Your leadership skills will thrive, your confidence will grow and your resume will shine.
There’s no better way to help yourself then helping your peers and, at the same time, giving back to your profession.
