The Best and Worst Fonts to Use on Your Résumé

What Resume Fonts Should You Use?

In the past, I’ve written a lot about making your resume stand out. I truly believe you should find a way to let your personality shine through in both your resume and your cover letter by adding little details that are uniquely you.

Ways to accomplish this would be to list skills you might have that are different from the average applicant like your love of community service. One thing you should not do, however, is go crazy with fonts.

According to Bloomberg, there are fonts that should never be used when applying for a job. “A résumé, that piece of paper designed to reflect your best self, is one of the places where people still tend to use typeface to express themselves,” writes Natalie Kitroeff. “It does not always go well, according to people who spend a lot of time looking at fonts.” Kitroeff asked three typography professionals which fonts are best for resumes and which fonts should never be used. In the link below, Kitroeff lists the best and worst fonts for resumes. I personally go with Helvetica, which features prominently as the first font mentioned in the article below.
