We’re getting excited about Valentine’s Day over here at Dental Temps Professional Services. Yes, we know it’s a month away, but we really just love love (and who doesn’t like to start thinking about sweet gifts for your guy or gal with lots of time to prepare). Last week, we found this U.S. News & World report article written by Arnie Fertig that takes job seekers into the mind of hiring managers by comparing them to holiday gift shoppers (we’re going to go ahead and include Valentine’s Day in the holiday season). “During the gift-giving season, try to understand an employer’s hiring psychology by comparing it to the mindset of a holiday shopper,” he writes. “Job applicants can compare the successful job seeker to that perfect gift the hiring manager wants to present to his department or company.” In order to better understand what hiring managers are looking for, Fertig recommends asking some common holiday shopping questions that answer where they might be shopping to find an employee, what features they might look for in a candidate and how much they are willing to pay for to find the perfect one. If you find yourself applying for a job during these few months of giving, check out the link below before creating a resume or cover letter to better grasp how you could be the perfect gift for a potential new office.
