When was the last time you wrote a thank you note? I’m not talking about a quick text message from your cell phone or even an email from your computer. I’m referring to the pen-to-paper method. We recently received ‘a gift of words,’ as I like to call them—also known as a thank you note—from a candidate we met for an interview. The note reflected her kindness and appreciation. The expression and the fact that she took time to sit down, put serious thought into her words, put the pen to paper, address the envelope and place a stamp on it showed us another facet of her character. Yes, she stood out in the crowd! Here’s a great article from Emily Post on the importance of the handwritten thank you note, one that reflects a personal and thoughtful gesture. If you really want them to remember you, go the extra mile and put pen to paper! You’ll be glad you did.
