Graduating and Looking for Your Passion? Just Be Patient

The cliche commencement-speaker advice to follow your passion is often less dramatic and visible than people expect. Passions don’t just spring up — they have to be cultivated with lots of time, sustained focus and work. Focus on finding work that’s a “good enough” fit and that you can use to explore and learn about new areas. People who have found their passion usually are accustomed to thinking about the impact of their work on other people. It’s important to find ways for your self-oriented and others-oriented virtues to complement each other.
